Steel Players Wives,are they different?

When I look back over many years of playing, and lots of ex-wives, I can only think of one that would not have me back! Is it me ?
What is wrong with that woman?? (hee hee)

Dear John,
Since some women are considered high-maintenance – as is your beloved steel – occasionally the two will collide. Check inside your guitar and make sure a part of her isn’t “steel” there! Your RX: Never date a woman who won't carry your equipment because it might mess up her manicure.

John I just met one of your Ex's,
and she's a right piece of work,
and cooks a mean english breakfast in the afternoon.

Say hi for me.

Steelers by and large... and we are generally large,
are odd ducks, and smarter and odder than most musicians.
Some ladies are just not meant to be with musicians, they just don't know it yet.

The one who won't have you back,
finally figured that one out for herself.

There are of course some sweet, nurturing, trusting souls,
who feel it a duty to help an artist make the most of themselves.
God lov'em!

And to that end, they will go above and beyond the call of duty,
MOST women think they must go to,
to nurture that creative proccess and the person embodying it.

With a LOT of luck a steeler bumps into one who is
cute, strong, good natured, and supportive of his art,
and the generaly intense, monomanaical focus a steeler needs to devote to his art.

John, My dear wife cares nothing about playing and singing. She refuses to go anywhere so I go by myself. She had rather stay home and watch a movie on the Lifetine Network. She will even keep the kids with her. Other than that she is a pretty good wife. I would think those that have a wife who likes to go when they play are really blessed.

My wife loves the pedal steel! She will go with me to a steel jam, watch a Big E or Lloyd Green video and loves to sing. She don't really care to hear me practice, but I can understand that.
We have been married 20 years and I hope we can keep it going.

Well John, I've been married 50 years to the same lady and what a gift. Early in my career she did go some places with me. She's always been my inpiration through good and bad and a great critic as well. Not always kind words, to what or how I played something, but honest each time. you can't ask for more than that.

There are wives and there are wives, just like there are men and there are men. But in any case the author of the recent popular best seller was indeed correct.

"Women are from Venus and Men are from Mars"

And NOTHING anyone does is ever going to change that. It is the way God made us. Best to coexist as best as can be; keeping the above well out in front of our thought processes.

May Jesus bless men and their wives (with particular emphasis on steel guitar players' wives) always, because the old saying is still very true,

Donna, this cannot be it! I have always left them the house etc.like you are supposed to do!

My wife and I have come to an agreement. Whats hers is hers and whats mine is hers.

But really, I have a great wife. Anytime I want some equipment(new toy) she always encourages me to get it. She gets a little disappointed when I go to Guitar Center in New Orleans and I don't buy something.

I think I'll keep her.

My wife, Sandy, enjoys the steel shows almost as much as I do. She is always pleased with how down to earth even the biggest of the big guns are. John Hughie is her favorite but Tom Brumley and Lloyd Green
are right up there as far as being nice guys along with most of the other steelers we've met.
She goes with me whenever I play at the WDVR-FM radio show and sometimes when I play in Atlantic City if its an early show.

Well i feel that i must say something about the wives who do and the wives that don`t suport their men in the love they have for the greatest instrument IMOH in the world.

Well i must have been the luckiest guy in the world i had a great friend in my darling wife who was taken from me in Feb this year,she gave me all the suport i could ever ask for,and i know she is allways with me when i sit down to play.

I have known John for many years and any woman who can put up with him deserves a medal [just kidding]he! he"]

Already a musician of 25+ years myself, I knew when I met my soul mate (with his musical dedication to steel) that if we were to keep strong in our love for each other and our music, that it was time to add a new love to my life ... we have 3 steels, 2 that sit right across from each other and we play every night together. Plus we've put our Dobro in C6 and I acquired a cool Fender Lap a few months ago. We gig together 4 times this month. And when he plays with other projects and we can get a sitter, I come along too. I help carry, load and set-up and give feedback on sound. And I am kid in a candy store when it comes to steel shows - can't wait, front row, center - that's where I'm usually sittin', studying every move and every smile. So, indeed there are some of us out there who are just as crazy for our steels, guitars, and making music... its in the soul - dig it!
