Pedal steel in Spain?

Hello everybody,
I am a steel player from the Netherlands and I will be gigging with a Dutch band at the Spanish northern coast (Malgrat de Mar). I will be doing five shows for a group of Dutch/Indonesian tourists travelling along. I will be there between 31 May and 10 June.
I was wondering whether it would be possible to meet some players from Spain (e.g. from the Barcelona area) if any. This would be fun, wouldn't it? Drop me a line!
Tom

I am 450Km South of Barcelona.
I think that Forumite Jeremy Williams may still be playing in and around Barcelona... but haven't hear of him for 2 years.
Good luck! ... J-D.

If you have a chance to stick around until 12th of June, there'll be a two day festival in Callela, just 50km north of Barcelona. Lot's of good music, great bands, party-party-party and nice atmosphere. I'll be there, though playing regular guitar with our band, but Jeremy Wakefield will be there playing steel with The Lucky Stars. For more information check

Hi,
Yes, still playing and doing standup in and around Barcelona.
Hi JD, whenever you want to come up to Barcelona, just tell me. Would love to meet up again.....and would like a paid-for adjustment to my PSG.

Jeremy, just bring your steel to Malgrat, Tom & I will fix it. I have a hammer and I think he has a pipe wrench.

Sure, it's worth a try...personally, I've been wondering how olive oil would work for lubricating a changer.....

Hey Joe, good to see you here!
I moved here early last year...I got so nervous about having to play after you in Utrecht in '02 that I had to come here to recuperate LOL!

Just out of curiousity, do any of you guys from Spain play Spanish music on the steel?
I think there is a lot of great music from there. I don't know whether or not it can be adapted to Steel, but if any of you are doing it, I'd be interested in hearing it.

Hey guys,
Thanks. That sounds like fun. Why don't you all bring your steels to Malgrat or Barcelona and we can have a great Spanish jam! We'll put it on tape and send the results to Mike.
Jeremy, can you mail me your gig schedule? Your email box is full and you cannot receive mails anymore.
Jussi, I will see if I can make it to the festival. Maybe I will see you there.
Tom

All this spanish stuff is real minor key, and unless you have some extra minor levers it will be a rush to play.
I do one or two things of spanish flavor. But not pure spanish.
Mike, I finally got West Side Story in the car last night on the way to my gig.
VERY nice job!!! Glad you finally got it released.
L.B. would be proud.

Thanks Favod. I'm glad you like the CD.
Actually, my current project is an album of Spanish miusic. It's all recorded, and I'm now in the process of editing it and preparing to mix. Among the selections are "El Amour Brujo" by Manuel De Falla, "Asturias" by Issac Albanez, part of a guitar concerto by Rodrigo (NOT his Conceirto De Aranjuez, although that would make an excellent piece for the steel) and Nikolia Rimsky-Korsakiov's "Cappriccio Espargnol"
In the case of the Rodrigo guitar concerto, I played the guitar parts on guitars as they were written and used the steel as a supporting instrument. The steel is subservient to the guitar on that particular recording.
