whereabouts of Mickey

Post by Skip Cons - II »

Does anyone know of the whereabouts of one Mickey Wells - superb E9th player. Used to play for Larry Dean. Last I heard he was having difficulties with arthritis. I searched the forums for his name – without success.
Tnx in advance

Dunno how current (or accurate) this is, but a gentleman named "Mickey" (and Wells sounds right) left a business card for pedal-steel instruction at the Blue Ridge Pickin' Parlor (then: Canoga Park, now Granada Hills CA) where I used to work part-time. This might have been 6-7 years ago. I'm not an active pedal-steeler (my set-up frustrations with a D-10 ZB are well-documented elsewhere in the Forum) or even a gigging musician, but I'd suggest asking some of the LA-area (San Fernando Valley in particular) members here.

My buddy Mickey is alive and well in the San Fernando Valley - Burbank to be exact. He frequently comes down to Viva Fresh where I play 3 nights a week www.vivacantina.com and I usually see him at least once a week. Still feisty as ever.As you said he does have arthritis issues but gets around pretty well and still picks steel. -MJ-
