Guitars, tone and effects

I have long felt that to much empheces was
put on so called ( tone to the bone ) guitars
and not enough on the different effects used
on them,I played some straght steel before,
but my first pedal steel was a brand new 1974
Sho Bud D10 Proffessional which was very heavy but had great tone to the amp, in 1990
I purchest a 1987 Legrande which I still have; I loved the C-6 tone but the E-9 was
muddy so I but a B-710 on but that was far to brittle so I exchanged that for a 10-1
which was just right, now, just about a year ago I bought a new 400 Williams, the E-9 is just right but the C-6 just did`nt have it so I put on a True Tone which greately improved the C-6 sound but was still not quite there,
now just as I was about to put my spare Emmons pickup on the Williams I purchast a
new 112 Peavey and lo and behold there was my C-6 sound back as well as a very nice E-9,
now I hve just bought a new keyless G.H.I. SO
WE`LL SEE WHAT THAT DOES AND WETHER i GET THE
TONE I want or not. Tom,
without changing amp setting
