Thanks for the inquiry. Yes, the 24th Annual "MASSBASH" will be held on Sunday, August 8th, at the ITAM Lodge, in Pittsfield, Ma. The location is ideal for the event. I will be posting the performers soon on The Steel Guitar Forum, as well as details pertaining to directions etc. It is my pleasure to announce at this time, that Joe Wright, and Jerry Brightman will be joined by players from this area. A list of the confirmed to date, is as follows:
Joe Wright

Jimmy Roule
Sam Gibson
Jim Cohen
Dana Flood
Jerry Fessenden
Bill Hankey
Support musicians - "Dooley Austin"
M.C. - Corey Zink, from "County Line

Wow Bill! The Bash just gets better and better. What a great line-up if it just remains as is. "Theawfulness" will certainly electrify the audience. I guess when Jerry said he was back he meant it.I gave him a picture of a young Jerry with Buck owens at Riverside Park in the early seventies. You have got to get his "I'm Back CD and his new one will fry your mind. I hope I can make this one. Should be one of the best Bashes ever. |

It's good to hear from you, and thanks for your great support over the years. I'm very pleased that you are among the country fans, who are familiar, with the activities of country music's steel guitarists. I hope that you will be present at the 24th Annual "Massbash". Thanks for the CD tips, and your comments. BTW, Jerry Fessenden should have been listed as a confirmed player.

I've been hoping to hear more about this event. I camp in Otis, MA so this will be an easy trip for me. I'm a new player very interested in attending. I assume there will be some "formal" announcement on the forum, or is there a web site to go to learn more?

There will be much more information presented on The Steel Guitar Forum during the month of April. I appreciate your interest in the "MASSBASH", and the steel guitar.

Pat B.,
The ITAM Lodge is a very popular place here in Pittsfield, Ma. They feature country bands every Sunday evening, from 7:00 - 11:00 P.M., and have been doing so for many years. Large windows in the seating area, afford a beautiful view of Pontoosuc Lake. The highest point in Massachusetts, (Mount Greylock) can be seen further north, in Adams, Ma.
I have a strong affiliation with country music, which explains why I have an inclination to be drawn to Pittsfield's ITAM Lodge. If you would be so kind, please see that Rte. 7 north at one point, skirts along the shoreline of the lake. The ITAM is roughly a mile from route 7, on the lakefront off Hancock Road. A detailed report will be given in April, for those visiting for the first time to the area. Allow 20 minutes from the former Lee, Ma. location.

I play at the ITAM Lodge about once a month and it's a great room! Spacious, comfortable, good acoustics, and a huge dance floor. They will probably set up several rows of chairs in front of the bandstand so you can get a closeup view of the steel players. The Mass Bash was held there in 1996, I believe. Like Bill said, it's about 20 minutes north of Lee, MA (Mass Pike, exit 2), off Rt. 7, Pittsfield, MA.

Bill , The Steel Guitar has alway supported me though the years. I've had good bands but the great ones always included a pedal Steel. My best friends are Steelers and we continue to keep in touch thanks to the Forum and Steel shows. I have had the pleasure to watch the MassBash through yours and Dougs great efforts, continue to be a NE happening. The Mass Bash showcases what years ago was almost a secret. That Steel guitarist in the northeast could play anywhere, with anyone. There is a pretty good list of those that have ventured to the big time and also those that could have. I'll always be thankful to Jimmy Smith asking me and Doc Peters to appear with him at my first bash. When Jimmy Smith left for Texas a few years later It was the Bash where I was lucky enough to find another great player.Peggy Green who preceded Jimmy (what can I say that hasn't been said) Roule. But certainly I'm most thankful to you for best seat in the house you gave me to the bashes, MCing. I have no doubt this will be a super can't miss event. Joe |

Country Joe C.,
Your recording of "I'M STILL IN THERE TRYING" is a big favorite of mine. That song reflects your ability to deliver country music, and to entertain those who are sensitive to the music known as "country". Thanks for supporting the steel guitarists who worked with you for a number of years. Your kind words are appreciated.
