I'm learning more repertoire than licks these days, and am starting to forget little things here and there. It's as if my brain is running out of disk space.

I find I have to keep log of lick and songs as I did when I first began playing seven years ago. Sound familiar?

cheers,
Drew

Yes it does!

I have no problem recalling the lyrics to songs I haven't heard in 20 years, but trying to get the new found knowledge to stick is a problem. I think that began about the time I hit 42 or so...

I can't seem to retain anything from sensory to short-term memory, let alone long-term.

I think using a portable cassette recorder for verbal notes might be helpful.

Now, what was your question again?

Drew, that does sound familiar. Now, any time I memorize something I input it onto Band In the Box. That way when I want to recall it, it's a no brainer. I even devised a way to put tab over the music staff by putting numbers and letters in the lyrics part of the screen. It's rather time consuming but I'm finding it very helpful in the learning and retaining department. BW

Lucky me, I can't ever recall having a problem with my memory.
