| It was about 1952-1954 that Jerry Byrd first started using his Diatonic tuning. It always seemed more recent to me, but he should be the one to really know, right? He says it was "Next to Jimmy" by Ferlin Husky that was the first recorded tune using his tuning. |

Ray,
Hmmmm. I thought "Come a Little Closer" on HIFI Guitar, was recorded using Jerry's diatonic tuning. This was in the early 50's.
When did "Next to Jimmy" come out? Was it not in the late 50's or early 60's?
Or am I all messed up?

It seems to me that Jerry actually did use it before ‘Next To Jimmy’, but; perhaps not with an artist singing! Regardless, I'm just glad he did! Long live Jerry Byrd!  All of my playing centers around the C-Diatonc tuning!
