This is without a doubt, one of as good a Gospel CD that I have ever heard,if you don't have it you're missing some very insperational playing, and of course the usual Hughey smooooothness..

Sorry we missed you this weekend at Saluda John,Charles brought me the CDs.

Double ditto what Bill said. I have had the CD several weeks. If it had been on vinyl it would have been worn out by now. The whole album is great, but the song "He Touched Me" is special.

Everything he does is GREAT! I also thought his use of the Super-Bro was awesome--does not sound like a simulator at all!

With all of the standardization for steel guitar that has been reported, coming out of current session work in Nashville, I'm wondering if John might have time to share with us what HE feels, keeps HIM from sounding like all the others. Mr. Hughey, is it YOUR hands, YOUR heart, YOUR pickups, the amps, or YOUR relationship with the producers that make demands upon the musicians that are doing session work on a regular basis? I'm immensley curious after all these years of playing steel guitar.

Other than my husband of coarse (Roy Ayres), John is my favorite steel player. I bought this CD at the Lakeland show and we play it over and over. John and Jean are two of my favorite people and I consider them our friends. Ray, as for what makes John sound so different, it's his talent of coarse, but also the love in his heart for not only his steel but his family and Savior! He plays with such feeling and love. I told Jean, that they were blessed to have each other. God has given John a "gift" and we are the ones blessed to enjoy it! We love you two! I pray we see you both soon, I need a few more albums yet!!! Laurie

My opinion of this CD is unchanged from when I first heard it almost three years ago. It is the best gospel album I have ever heard.

Copy of my previous post:... My dad was the song leader in our church and at revivals around our neck of the woods when I was growing up, and my parents and two of my sisters (all gone now) had a gospel quartet, and most of the traditional hymns from that era seem to have been left behind by newer hymns. But John's new album has brought them back. His spiritual and emotional interpretation of those hymns, combined with his superb playing, has revived those childhood memories of mine of family, church, happy times, and even those times when they were sung as we said goodby to loved ones. This album is going to be a classic that will always be one of my favorites. www.genejones.com posted 31 May 2001 07:16 PM .....
