| The old gent that taught me what little steel I know used to play a song he called watermellon man. It was played on C6 I remember he used the bo-Wah pedal alot. Anybody know it? I'd like to try and learn it and my ole buddys passed on. |

| I think I remember hearing that song on one of Reece Anderson's early albums. The album also had "Tangerine" on it. I can't remember any of the other songs. It's been a very long time since I heard it, probably late '60s or early '70s. |

Herbie Hancock is not a Steeler as far as i know
he plays keyboards and wrote Watermelon man
he's been known in jazz circle for decades
he played w/ Miles Davis... |

Reece did a great rendition of "watermellon man". I am not sure(memory you know) but I thinkg it was on "Modern Steel Guitar" LP, the first one he made.
Correct me if I got it wrong, Reece...al

Jimmy Day played the "watermelon man" quite a bit. his live at the 500 cafe album, and (I seem to remember) The Outlaw jam Band album/tape also.
