Does anyone out there in "Forum Land' know what model of Sho-Bud guitar Buddy Charlton plays in the 21 song Ernest Tubb video...he actually plays 2 or 3 different steels throughout the video ...all of them have fantastic tone....

John,
It's available from the E.T. Record Shop. It's several songs from the old TV show that E.T. and the Troubadours did back in the late 60's or so. Here's the link. http://www.etrecordshop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=ETRS&Category_Code=5TUER

Those are Sho Bud "permanents". Back then Sho Bud wasn't offering model names like Pro I and II and LDG and what have you, just models by the number of necks and strings. The name came from the changer model, which was Sho Bud's first version and in the mid 60's they introduced the fingertip changer. These two models were offered side by side in the 60's. I haven't watched those videos for awhile, but I'm pretty sure they were all permanents and no fingertips.

Hey Mike,

Trust me,

The video of songs from the ET TV show is from the mid 60's and he plays two different fingertip Sho-Buds. The playing and tone is about as good as it gets. Fantastic.

I have to agree with Jussi...they don't look like fingertip models to me....I wonder what Buddy Charlton used for an amp?

Well I dug out my video and based on that, I honestly can't tell if all those Sho Buds were permanents or if one of them was a fingertip. Most of the pictures I have of Buddy C, he uses various permanent models, so...
Of course the amps are not visible ( who the heck was a camera director; no amps, no close-ups on changers!!!? ), but many pictures show Buddy and Leon both using Standels.

Well I looked at my video again too and to be honest it does look like they are probably permanents, it's hard to tell for sure though. The video is from 1965 by which time they were making fingertips, I would think that Buddy was up on the latest models at the time. Maybe someone who was there can enlighten us?
