Don Walser did a great version of 'Shotgun Boogie' a few years back.

BIG record for Tennessee Ernie Ford 'bout 50 years ago. Still gets a fair amount of play on the "Country Classics" satellite TV music channel. A real "zippy" number. I used to work with a real good country singer (long deceased) during the mid-1970's who sang it occasionally. Now the bass player in our show band has informed me that he's gonna start doing it on shows. Lotsa room for pyrotechnics on the steel!

Thanks for the info guys, Mr. Don Herron provided some pyrotechnics! It sounded like he was overdriving an old tube amp. Great nostalgic sound. Definitely a fun cut.

Richard,
Yes, that was the one and only Speedy West on Ernie's cut. If you ever come across a CD by Ernie called "16 Tons Of Boogie" do yourself a favor and grab it! There's a lot of great steel work as well as Jimmy Bryant tearin' it up on the 'ol telecaster.
