Try to get a hold of Dean Black, I think he's on the forum. He's a super picker and a nice dude to boot!!

Dean is located in St Paulies Island which I think is somewhere in S. Carolina, not near Myrtle Beach?

It's right next door. Dean used to work in downtown Myrtle Beach with some friends of mine at The Bowery.

Is/Are there any local sites in MB where one may hear good live country on a regular basis (besided the Alabama Theatre...)?

I'll be there in mid April and it would be good to know about ahead of time. Thanks.

I haven't been there in two years, but you should visit the Carolina Opry (just a short drive from downtown) if you like a classic country music show...similar to the Opry in Nashville, but much more intimate and polished. It's a real good theater-type show. Also, check out the "Beach Wagon" ( a big club right in Myrtle beach), which features more up-to-date country dance music. Though I don't think they have a steeler, the Gatlin Brothers theater puts on a great show, too! (Few country singers can sing as good as Larry Gatlin does.)

These are my top 3 picks for the MB area.

Thomas Bethea plays guitar somewhere in Myrtle Beach and used to scan the Forum once in a while. He might know of a steeler locally.

Go see my buddy Ron Zara at The Bowery, I don't think they have steeler this season, but if'n ya wanna hear a good picker and fantastic singer, that's the joint to go to.
