I have enjoyed listening to some of Shot's work recently. What a great talent! A year or two ago we had several very interesting posts about Shot-I especially enjoyed the one about his sneaking up behind someone and dropping a manhole cover on the cement floor! Did he record many songs with the pedal dobro he came up with?
Did he record many songs with Kitty? On the Johnny & Jack recordings that feature dobro & pedal steel, did Shot overdub? I had a recording of Shot & Buddy, but lost it along the way. If you know of any available recordings of his, please let me know, I'd like to add to my collection. Thanks everyone! |

Shot Jackson also did recordings with Roy Acuff between 1955 and 1958. These records can be found on the Roy Acuff double CD "The King Of Country Music" on Bear Family Records (BCD 15652).

Shot recorded on dobro and worked the road with Johnny and Jack until Jack's untimely death in an auto accident on the way to Patsy Clines's funeral. His dobro work with Johnny and Jack was outstanding. I am told that he recorded on steel guitar(non-pedal) with Red Sovine and The Bailes Brothers when they were on the Louisiana Hayride.I think he is on some of Kitty Wells's early recordings on steel.
