I flew Comp. in the southeast for several years from out of Pensacola Fl. Flew with several nats winners. Had the pleasure of flying with Jim Kirkland, Don Coleman, Jim Edwards, founder of Proline, ( I had the pleasure of naming Proline) Jim and I talked about once a month on the phone.
Did you fly for fun or Comp.?

I have been building and flying RC-planes for 15 years. Mostly giant scale aerobatic machines with 2 cyl four stroke engines. Right now I am putting the finishing touch on a Super Chipmunk. It´s a very time consuming hobby but I love every moment of it. Living in Sweden makes a rather short flying season due to the long winter though...

I used to be consumed with all kinds of model airplanes starting in the mid 50s - static,free flight and control line combat,etc.Then in the early 60s I got into high wing stick/silkspan/dope planes w/single channel reed gear and wind-up escapements. Later in the early 70s I got into multi-channel proportional gear w/proper servos etc and flew scale warbirds,pattern and what are now called Fun-Fly planes.Later I built a few sailplanes and about 5 years ago I built an RC chopper but wisely sold it before I flew it into the ground like all the rest.
I think it's a great sport/hobby but I just don't have the time any more.It's great for retired guys with time,money and an understanding wife,but since I pissed away two thirds of my life playing with model airplanes and steel guitars instead of developing a lucrative vocation,it looks very much like I gotta work now and for the rest of my life.So I guess I'm done now - plus I could never make any money at it....Kinda like the music business. -MJ- |

Det hade jag inte en aaaaning om...
I got to take up glueing and yelling 4 letter words down in the garage again, I guess. It's very close to the rehearsal room anyway, and a model Super Cub lays half done there since years back.
BTW: Any hints on less aggressive super glues than cyano acrylate? It makes my nose and eys run like h-ll and I would like a substitute that's kinder to me. |

| I've built model airplanes since I was big enough to glue 2 sticks together. I got into RC in 1973 and still love the hobby. Fly everything from indoor electrics to giant, to real nes. I like float planes and Giant scale the most. |
