Do you remember the number of Forum members there were, when you joined ?
I joined 28 Dec.99, at best I remember it was in the 1800's.
Wow,,, look a it now, over 4000.
B0b , you gotta be loseing a lot of sleep, and doing all you can muster, just to keep from pulling your hair out !
Did you ever imagine what an impact you were going to have on this many psg pickers ?
I for one, want to thank you for your most generious gift.
I have burned a lot of midnight oil, and enjoyed this Forum to no end.
It's very informative, addictive and downright fun,to say the least. :
Hope it goes on forever.
Thanks again,
Kenny

There are about 2,600 people in my QuickBooks database. These are people who have donated to the Forum, bought at least one item, or sent in the $5 registration fee. Almost all of them are Forum members, I'm sure.
I don't really know who the other 1400 members are. Many are fictional (fake names) or duplicates, from the early days when people could create their own memberships without sending in an application and $5. Often people who forgot their password would simply create a new account. Some members created additional accounts with fake names to post anonymously.
But some of the 1400 are legit members. About once a week I get an order from a long-time member and discover that he's not in the QuickBooks database.
I know that there are folks who read the Forum but have never joined. There may be a thousand of them, for all I know. So maybe the 4,000 figure isn't too far off.

b0b I suspect the number of occasional lurkers is in the 10's of thousands.
Lots of people seem to love the steel, but don't play, so feel no need to join and ask questions.
One good question is how many hits does it get in a given week?[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 01 February 2004 at 01:23 PM.] |

"Hits" are hard to define, let alone count. You need special software to mine the logs. I have no idea how many hits we're getting, but the T1 is handling the traffic well. |

b0b......I got into the Forum about three years back, maybe 3.5 years. There were about 2200 names +/-. I never got to fill out an application nor send in any member fee. What's the story here. I feel ignored.
I don't know any REAL banjer pickers on the Forum but I DO KNOW at least one drummer....what can I say?
I know at least a dozen non-member/lurkers.
Let me hear from you b0b. I'd really like to belong to something. The Confederate Air Force got entirely too expensive for me so the Forum is my HOT PLACE to visit a dozen times daily.....or more! |

Well, I know a really good "banjer" picker that belongs to this forum out in Garden Grove, California named Garry Vanderlinde, and drummers are musician's "best friends", as you know...... Regards, Harley |

When I became a member in February 2000 there were just under 2000 members if my memory serves me correctly. |

I joined in 7/99 when there were maybe 1800 members. I didn't pay a fee....does that mean I'm not a real member? Oh no!
This is a great place. It is the first place I was pointed to when I went to a local music shop asking about PSGs in '99 (thanks, Dave Ristrim). It's been a goldmine of info and I've made a lot of friends.
I didn't know b0b had instituted an initiation fee. Great idea. Is there also a recurring anual fee, b0b?

I think I joined the forum about 5 or 6 years ago, you didn't have to register with a application back then, there was a lot of members who had just a handle, not there real name, some had two handels, sometimes there was some confusion about who said what. Today the forum is much more regulated, thanks to B0B this is alot better for every one. I know just in my area there are well over 100 people who read the forum but have never joined. Thanks B0B for doing this for us, it is the best thing that ever happen for the Steel Guitar. Jerry |

I started charging a registration fee about 3 years ago, I think. There were too many abuses of the registration process. The new system works well, not just because it pays, but also because people are more responsible if they've paid $5 and given their real name and phone number to the sysop.
