Has anyone played one of these? Or own a Remington lap steel? They look great and the price is right, and of course Herb Remington rules, but I have no experience with them. I would appreciate advice.

Hey Aaron. Cindy Cashdollar plays a Remington triple. Three weeks ago she played it on Prairie Home Companion (and has done so numerous other times; last week she played a Stringmaster T8 on the show. You could spin that info a number of ways but I'll read it to say that the Remington holds its own. For the little I've heard it I'd say that it sounds smoother with less bite than the Fender--I don't know what pickups Remington uses but if they are the GeorgeL humbuckers that could account for it somewhat.

----and to acknowledge that I'm speaking with my mouth full and my mind empty, I know nothing of the Playboy and I realize that it is no doubt a different animal from the Remington pedal and non-pedal 4-legged models. Hence, just some useless information. Oh well.

I ran into a guy in Houston called Steely Dan who played one. He made it sound great. I played it a bit and it felt foriegn to me but new stuff takes getting used to. BW

Thanks you both. It seems to be the same as the fancier Remington, except it has a natural body and a slotted headstock. I wonder if those two features would diminish sustain?
