I have heard the Manhattan Transfer sing
"The Java Jive" a few times in the last two weeks. There is a steel guitar being played, but no instrumental break. Does anyone know who played steel on this recording?

I think Buddy Emmons recorded on two of their albums.

They also did a recording w/Asleep at the Wheel...I have it around here somewhere but don't recall if that is one of the titles.

Java Jive is one of the titles .
The CD is titled "Swing" and features a mix of guests like Stephane Grapelli and Mark O'Connor and I believe John Pizzarelli besides AATW. Middle 90's.
I don't know for sure who played for Asleep at the time, but it could have been Miss Cashdollar. She is a forumite and could tell us.
Info on the CD is on Amazon.

I should never trust my memory. John Pizzarelli is not on this CD. I apologize for the misinformation.
Great album though if you like the old standards. The rendition of Mutton, er Moten Swing is pretty hot too.

Roger,

It is Cindy Cashdollar playing on "Java Jive", she is also playing on two more tracks, Buddy Emmons is one two tracks, Steve Hinson is playing on one track ("Choo Choo Ch' Boogie) which was recorded live at the Ryman Auditorium

Kind Regards, Walter
