Troy is mainly known as a country guy, but did soul, R&B and rock in the 1960s, in fact he was in a large combo known as the Dapps who were James Brown's B-band, the drummer Tim Drummond moved to Nashville with Troy circa 1968 and was later with Crosby Stills & Nash, Neil Young and on lots of sessions.

The Dapps actually played on part of Brown's classic 1969 album, "I'm Black And I'm Proud," which by the way, is a great LP.
Troy was solo on Atlantic Records in the early 1970s when Atlantic opened it's first (and ill fated) country division, with Troy, Henson Cargill, Willie Nelson, Wynn Stewart and others.

Buddy has had so many GIANT intros, turnarounds, and solos that it is truly difficult to determine his "BEST". EVERYTHING he touches is gifted to my ear. When he cut "Half a Mind" with ET (by a neophyte unknown writer Roger Miller in 1957), Neil Flanz mused,"Jerry Byrd is now playing pedals". To my mind and ear, of recent vintage, is Buddy doing the intro and solo with Johnny Bush "I Wished I'd Seen Your Goin' Comin'" or as Buddy calls it "Senor". I still remember Scotty's last 2003 Convention when Johnny and Buddy did it and at the end of Buddy's solo Lloyd Green, who was seated in the back on stage, stood up and applauded with such a warm smile. To me, THAT was a tribute to Buddy's genius!!!

WAYNE,,,you are RIGHT with ,,,Buddy has had so many GIANT intros, turnarounds, and solos that it is truly difficult to determine his "BEST".,,,,,
INDEED,,,,,, EVERYTHING he touches is gifted to my(ALSO MINE) ear.

But sometimes it is MORE THAN GREAT(for me)
Like the LP "fulcanic action of my soul"
Then he has THAT EXTRA!!(and is a "Ray Charles twin brother" )
