Billy did western swing with the top bands before 1950, He quit steel guitar and started a church in Pensacola Fl. He is the one thAT showed Doug J his first lesson on PSG.
Billy bought two Emmons, a few years back, a red one and a black one, D 10s.
He was big on cords and played great till he died recently.
Do any of you remember him from the old days. We have been friends since the 50s and played together in church.

It's a shame. Seems we lose a few of our HEROES and LEGENDS every year or so. Ernest, sounds like you have a long list of fine experiences and memories with Billy. What a treasure!! The forum is a great place to get to know some of these fine folks. |

James I have known Billy since 59, we were in the same church in Pensacola, and both came thru the same church in Montg. Al.
You would not bvelieve how good he was on Chords and what a great player, both on non pedal and PSG. He was the one that set up Dougs guitar when he first got it.
I was at the radio stAtion when he played his last program in Pe cola. He packed up and told us he was leaving for Nashville, he has not looked back since.
as ever
