Hey y'all,

I'm curious what kinds of guitars the following players used:

Norm Hamlett (1969) "Instrumental Sounds of Merle Haggard's The Strangers" This is a fantastic instrumental album, with some great Speedy/Jimmy type guitar antics....

Buddy Merrill (1970) "Steel Guitar Country" fantastic twangy instrumentals, is he using the Sho-Bud he's standing next to on the cover?

Thanks for any info, I don't find too much about these guys, but both of these LP's are in heavy rotation.

Hey Carter,

I have the Buddy Merrill record, too, he is standing behind an Emmons on the cover, have you ever read the liner notes where it says..."the Emmons guitar featured on this album has twenty strings and four (sic!) foot pedals." Must have been quite a unique guitar!

Walter

Thanks Walter, I have been listening to a cd I made from the record and didn't actually look again at the cover, thanks for straightening that out. It sure *sounds* like quite a guitar!

Norm Hamlet played a ZB Custom in those years. Whenever I saw him in the 90's he was playing Emmons, and recently GFI.

His copedant stayed pretty much the same all through the years except on his E9th he's moved from a vertical knee to a 4th pedal.

PS: Buddy Merrill is also picture with an Emmons on his "Country Capers" album.
