About 10 days ago I sent off my order to Mr. Green for his new CD "Revisited". After sealing the envelope I thought, maybe I should have asked him to sign it. No, I'm not going to be a pain. Yesterday, I received the CD. It contained a note of thanks and the words, "I took the liberty of signing your copy". WOW! And it looks great too!
The CD is amazing. Lloyd seems to speak my language. He plays so smooth and effortlessly. They call him "Mr. Nashville Sound". Well, maybe he should also carry titles like "Liquid Lloyd", or "Mr. Smooth", "The Green Velvet". He just glides from note to note, chord to chord, and everywhere in between. While listening, even considering he is world class and an alltime great, I had moments when I thought, ok, he's not going to make it back, he'll stop. But NO! He finds his way back to the theme without a hitch, always tastefully and musically. My favorite tune is So Sad. IMO, This one tune can sum up the essence of who Lloyd Green is as a pedal steel player.
Thank you Mr. Green for giving the world a new long-awaited gift of your talent. |

Well said!
To me, Lloyd is a genius, I'll never get tired to hear him, no matter if instrumentally or behind a singer!
The new CD is just awsome!

Walter, I haven't yet had the pleasure of welcoming you to the forum, but you're the first guy on here that seems to know how to spell Genius, so I figure you must be a pretty good ear. Welcome.

I just received my copy of "Revisited" the other day. It is just superb. I wanted to send Lloyd an email saying so but I don't know where to get his ID. He absolutely embodies the Nashville sound. I love it! And I had also just received the "Lloyd Green And His Steel Guitar" CD a few days prior. Wonderful. Things have been quite Green around here lately.

I bought my "Revisited" CD at the last Super Jam in Nashville and I had the best time of my life talking to Mrs.Dot Green and Mr.Lloyd Himself.CD is a great compilation of different music from all over the world and Lloyd`s playing is as always, amazing. The Lloyd Of Nashville has proven again that he is not done with music by any means,he is back to stay and what a joy that is to have a great Lloyd Green back on the stage and in studio.I would welcome back Mr.Green but that wouldn`t be right since he never left his place in my heart on the first place.

I was sure in a slump when I got the CD. Ended up that good as it is, I'll be keeping that letter that he penned out a lot longer. More like a "note from a friend" than a keepsake from THE MAN. Handwriting much like mine was a further inspiration .
You know, the utter humility of the guy is astounding. Mentioning that he "took the liberty" of signing your CD says it all. That's actually the way he felt about it, I'm sure. Like he was "asking permission" .
I can't fault him for being slightly wrong about my "not being familiar" with his work, considering I've heard everything he's put on vinyl and worn out a couple of LPs a cut at a time turned down to 16rpms over the years. Not to mention all the JP 8 tracks that got eaten repaired eaten etc.. I've been running over "Steel Guitar Jubilee" and a couple other cuts on that album I remember.
I'm wondering as a personal glimpse, what it was like during his "retirement". I imagine it was many times more dificult than the average "dark period" some of us "bush leaguers" have. Whether medical, spiritual, born of sheer determination, or a combination, we all owe a debt to the forces that allowed his return, not to mention HIM.
That Lloyd/Tommy video is getting worn out at my house too.
He's "the man" alright.
Thanks again Mr Green.
