If its the same guy he is a NYC singer/songwriter. He wrote some tunes for Nora Jones so he is doing pretty well these days. He has a deal of his own and tours with a trio. Real good musicians. I see them around town and bump into them on the road.

Smiley....There was a steel player in Dallas by that name, and he was a great swing player. I haven't heard anything about him in years, but last I heard he was living in a small town not too far from Dallas.

Well, I am a "Jesse Harris",

And, as for Jesse Harris, the composer of "Don't Know Why" and other tunes from the Norah Jones CD, it's my understanding he's a native NYC guy, as Bob pointed out. Has a band called Jesse Harris and the Ferdinandos.

yup i did the Garth tribute,
but please don't hold it against me,
I didnt have any idea how to play PSG
at the time, and I was playing a fender 1000
with no knee levers. It was purely for the check. my apologies.

So, to recap
* there are (at least) two Jesse Harris' in the context of this thread
* one is among us -- he is 'LA' Jesse and his dad Greg played with the Burritos. 'LA' Jesse also played on one or more steel guitar tribute albums in years past
* the other one is a NYC dude, 'NYC' Jesse. He's in with Norah Jones -- wrote more than half of the tunes on her Grammy album and has a band that works out of NYC

I was confused, at least partially because I heard lap steel or maybe it was slide guitar on a tune or two and suspected 'NYC' Jesse might play steel. Now we know THE REST of the story.

. . . wheeew!
