In years past, I backed-up Lefty Frizzell perhaps a dozen times as a sideman in the house band at the popular Division Street Corral, Portland, Oregon.

He always generated a large crowd and had quite a loyal following here in the great Portland Metro area.

Only thing was........he was seldom on stage without being plastered. In fact, I can't recall but one or two times that he appeared to be sober. Such a shame.

Thanks for the comment Ray, You actualy knew him!
He wrote many songs about alcohol. It was part of his life, and I have to admit my leaning towards that stuff to. I think there's an an analogy with music and mind altering substancies.
