ON the version of Faded love, which was done as a duet by Willie Nelson and Ray Price, who was the steeler on this? The tone (crystal clear, bell-like tones), and phrasing really caught my attention today, and am curious (web searches ahve come up empty!).
Thanks in advance |

Thanks! Should have known better here!! I was going to guess that, or John Hughey (kenw it was an emmons guitar, and the high notes that seemed t go up forever made me think John). Good playing though! |

GINO, Tim and Jason are absolutely correct! Also take note of that neat little diminshed scale run Emmons does on the title cut. I think maybe he was teasing Grady a little bit,or just paying tribute to Grady's style of playing. Just my own observation.

That is an extraordinary album--wonderful pickin' on some classic tunes.
If you like that, check out Willie's Just One Love album (1995). It features duets with Kimmie Rhodes and hot solos by Buddy and Grady, in fact Grady Martin produced.
Buddy's ride on Cold, Cold Heart is unforgettable. It's only about four bars long but easily the equal of his work on Someday Soon and very reminiscent of that exquisite E9 style. --JR |
