Came across this photo in a souvenir my wife bought in Nashville in '85.
The caption says it's from Red Foley's Ozark Jubilee from the 50's. Anyone recognize the steeler?

I believe the steel player in this photo is Curley Chalker. |

That is a fact Harold L. Chalker aka Curley.
At the funeral home during Curley's visitation they had a t.v. and vcr set up showing old clips of shows he did during his career and they had a clip or two from that show with Curley and Thumbs Carlile.[sp]. It was very interesting to hear how his style developed over the years.
Boy I sure do miss ol' Curls.

Yep....that's Curley on steel. The two fiddle players are Jimmy Belkin on the left and Johnny Manson on the right. Looks like Red Foley singing. Anyone know the piano player? |

Reece's right young Curly. I have heard many stories about him and Jimmy Day both playing on the Ozark Jubilee.
Speedy West knew and played with a bunch of those guys, but by that time he was already in California and he was doing is thing with Capitol records, etc., etc.
Reece please e-mail me!
