Who could give me some more information about
Sho-Bud banjos, in particular this one: modelnumber 7740, serialnumber 1042. Perhaps
how many and when they were built, anything.

| Rob! I was able to find a brochure on Sho-Bud banjos, I was Sho-Bud Product Mgr in 1975-80 I dont think that many were sold, probably less than 100? I dont recall selling any myself, Heres what the brochure states regarding Model 7740, & 7742, Two fine banjos, both crafted with three-piece laminated mahogany neck, Ivoroid bound edges, and mother-of-pearl inlay on ebony fingerboard and violin-shaped headpiece. The body is quality-constructed with a 9-ply laminated hardwood shell, mahogany resonator with mother-of-pearl inlay, heavy brass tone ring, heavy cast brass resonator flange, 24-bracket brass tension hoop, heavy brass pressure tailpiece Planetary geared pegs with geared 5th peg. Banjos by Sho-Bud-- The Name in Musical Quality, distributed by Gretsch, I hope this gives you some help! | Al, do you recall if the the Sho-Bud banjos made by -- or somehow related to -- the Ode banjos that eventually became Baldwin-Ode? ...since Baldwin also owned Sho-Bud at some point? |

Al, thanks very much for your information! And indeed I would really like to see that
brochure, if you could e-mail or fax me a copy, that would be great. I had the impression they are very rare, but from this afternoon, I am the happy owner of the one described..mint condition.....now just have to learn to play the beauty.
