Eric was playing at Jubitz last night, the lead singer went to the back of the drum riser and turned on a smoke machine. After the smoke had cleared I looked over at Eric and smoke was also coming up behind him. I thought, now how did they do that. That's when I realized that a cigarette was burning in an ash tray below the steel, I thought he was on fire. We all had a good laugh.
If you ever come to Portland Ore, please look for Eric, Pete Burak and or Doug Jones, these three active players will knock your socks off. The states of Oregon and Washington have a great number of outstanding steel players, we are not just cowboys and covered wagons any more.

....it was actually my Fender Bandmaster after the bassman spilled a glass of beer into the top of it with his cord when he stepped up to the mic to sing! www.genejones.com [This message was edited by Gene Jones on 12 April 2003 at 12:39 PM.] |

Oh Eric that is mighty tricky. For those of you who were not there, the flames coming from Eric's hands were real. ) :

Well, we(I) had a much better night last nite. Lew the Jew Soloman showed up and we compared bike notes. He's been extremely friendly since Rod Wilson died. Thanks again for coming out. Got a bunch more dates out of it.( Lucky them ...)
Sound guy figured out how to get the effects off my channel. He'd swapped the steel and guitar lines somehow, and the monitor controls too...
Tax time today. I don't want to put it off til the last minute...

I've seen Ole Earache "smoke" worse than that when he headed down the front hallway immediately following their last tune at break time. He's usually in a real hurry. It happens to a lot of old truck drivers. |
