I have a copy of a Little Jimmy Dickens Decca 45 of this song, I haven't listened to it in years. I'm on the road right now or I'd dig it out...
"It's just an old used Sho-Bud
for which I saved and scraped
I bought it second-handed
from a cat whose name was Drake..." |

Hermann is my dear friend and what a character! You oughta seem him do it live! BTW, it's cool to see someone front a band from behind a steel...
Hey brother Pete! |

Hi Tommy! What are you up to these days? Playing any with Jim Lauderdale? It looks like I may end up doing a few European "Billy Block allstar" gigs with him again this summer...
So what is the story on this song, and composer? I just came across the record somewhere years ago, but don't know anything about it... |

After I reported in the Steel Guitar World magazine that a fellow disappeared after "buying" a pedal steel from me with the promise to pay as soon as an insurance payment came in the next week on a steel that was allegedly stolen from him, Hermann read the article and sent me his tape, with condolences. Good stuff and great steel on it. [This message was edited by Fred Layman on 01 April 2003 at 04:04 AM.] |
