My name is Larry Robbins and I'm from northern N.Y.S.I've played "Atkins" style 6 string for 35 years.also play mandolin quite
a bit and even 5 string banjo(that mid-evil
instrment of torture)Dobro, and a short time ago I started playing lap steel(c6)liked it
so much I decided to go all the way and bought a pedal steel(GFI)steel guitar has al
lways been a dream of mine.starting to pick up a few tunes. Its been a long, long time since I have been this inspired!!!I'm starting to see why you people are so passionate about this trulley intoxicating
instrment.I'll try not to ask too many dumb
questions!Oh well...better get back to playing.

Welcome aboard, Larry.

Best wishes with the GFI.

Hello Larry, welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of pedal steel... I have a music store in Walton, NY South of Oneonta, East of Binghamton, in the great frozen tundra. 130 inches of snow this winter and counting. Stop in and see us if you are in my area. I have a Cougar single/double ten, 3 and 5, and a new Zum on order. Enjoy the new steel, Regards, Larry J. |

Welcome Larry.
Are you familiar with another Larry with the last name Lambert?
I have been looking for him for years. He played straight guitar with my group while I was playing at Hidden Valley Ranch in Lake Luzerne NY.
Last time I saw him he was working for George O'Dell (now deceased) in Utica while I was repping Fender,,any information as to Larrys whereabouts would be helpful.
He's a good friend and I would like to hook up with him.
Good luck on this Forum.

Welcome Larry...Was Glenn Falls the scene of a big "rock" concert back in the early 70's ['73]? Or am I thinking of Watkins Glenn? The up and coming Allman Brothers Band were the featured attraction. Summertime.
Anyway......welcome to a truly great place.

Chip,
I think what you were referring to was the
Watkins Glen rock festival.Being an average
product of my culture,my memories of those
days are rather "fuzzy" how some of us made it through the sex, drugs, and rock& roll of that era is truly a mystery ! Gald I did
now I can play steel!cool man.
