Terry,

A gorgeous guitar!

I just received a Carter 12 string in a trade, and love playing it.

What pickup are you using?

Happy Holidays,
Drew Howard

Hey, Terry. That is truly a work of art. I know you love your Carter as much as i love mine. We have to get together and trade a few licks. Take care and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Drew,
John Fabian recommended the Lawrence pickup. I'm not sure if it is the 712, or the 912. In either case, it sounds great and has no buzz or excessive microphonic pickup.

Corky,
Thanks my friend. Let me know what your schedule is for the upcoming weeks.

If you have not been to a Gene Watson show lately, you need to go. Corky is playing with Gene and he is awesome. Great sound, great people.

Happy Holidays.

Terry,
Nice looking guitar. I've had my D10 for a year now and still love it.

Corky,
Last time I saw you was when you were with Perfect Strangers. Let me know when you play in Houston.

Terry,
That looks like a 7-12. The 9-12 has a single row of magnets. He (Bill) made some 7-10-8's and may have made some 7-12-8's too. They look identical to the 7-12. The difference is in the windings. The dash 8's are just a little brighter. You'd have to look on the bottom of the pick up to see which one it is. He has them marked.

Thanks Ann. I should have wrote down the pickup number when I was there.

Terry, I stand corrected. I'm not yet familiar with that model.

Congratulations, Terry!

I've had my blue birdseye Carter D-10 for just over a year, and love it more all the time.

BTW, my dad just bought a SD-10 Carter with the BL XR-16's.

May you play yours for a long, long time.

Nice U12 Terry! Great color choice.

I've had XR16s on my Birdseye-Blue Carter since Sept. I like them a lot.

Thanks for the great wishes.

How did you guys decide on the XR-16? I just took John's suggestion. It has excellent output power, no hum pickup, and I can floor it with no feedback. I can work in extreme high volume environments with no noise. It is also very clean and crisp. I'm not sure how I could ask for anything more.

Al Brisco reccommended it, I tried it and liked it.

It's less microphonic than the ones I had.
I don't want to name them because they're also fine pickups, just not for my taste.

I said "I couldn't ask for anything more" in a pickup. Actually I want one of those bad note correcting pickups!! Image

Another big change for me is the tuners. The Sperzel tuners are incredibly polished to prevent string breakage from burrs. John told me to use a lot of windings, which I normally do on the G#. The first time I changed strings, I didn't get enough on the 1st string and it slipped. I would get it in tune and raise it a whole tone and it kept going flat. I've been putting strings on instruments for over 3 decades and I have never seen 3-4 windings slip through a tuner. After examining the post, I can see why. It is slick as glass. The extra windings are a small price to pay for improved string breakage.

Terry, nice guitar you own. My Zumsteel is blue. I guess the blue with polished aluminum necks look great with one another.

I suppose you are going to tell us how you only had to wait a few weeks to get it, it was priced right, it plays great, the color just knocks you out, it sounds wounderful. We've heard all of this before about Carter guitars. Bla Bla Bla

The bottom line is "IT IS TRUE". Congrats, you will be happy for a long time.
