Within a period of 5 hours this past Wednesday night I got to hear and visit with these "heavies"; John Hughey, Terry Wendt, Vic Lawson, Bobbe Seymour, and Rusty Hurse. I enjoy living near "Nashburg".

I don't recall anyone saying that there wasn't any steel in Nashville.
All I know is that there is none at the Palace anymore.

Mike, it's sorta like a news paper,
they have to do the big "headline" and then the rest of the story is sometimes irrelevant.
Not that the mentioned Player's are irrevelant by any means,they're the Cream Of The Crop, but the reporters are a little over anctious sometimes for the attention.

i'm really sorry about your position at the Palace, you are surely a Class Act,,, thier Loss.

There have been posts on this forum complaining of the lack of country music and steel in Nashville. I was trying to let people know that there is some available.

I did miss being able to come by and visit with you as I have in the past.

Kenny F., if you are referring to me as "the reporter", being over anxious, and wanting attention, you are grossly mistaken and I take that as a personal attack. These type comments are the reason the content of this forum has deteriorated so much. If I misread you, please accept my sincerest apologies.

Bob , that was not at all meant as a personal atack toward you, I have no ax to grind, I saw the headline of your post as a positive fact that Nashville had No steel guitar anymore.(nothing else, maybe I interpitated it wrong)
Sorry if I offended you, I don't post much at all, and if you're saying I'm one of the ones responsible for the demise of this Forum by saying anything derriogatory about anything.

I think what that means is:

The NCS (records,videos,shows)that is comming out of Nashville for the past few years dosen't have any steel in it. It's all mostly a T&A show,screaming & non-country. Now that isn't to say there arn't a few good (read this as "Classic") things left here. We still have an act or two that is somewhat Steel !!

As far as seeing and hearing the PSG pickers here in the quote "Hot Spots", Yes it's here ..... Big time. As you say, Bob, We have a lot of them,while mabey not the best known or hi-profile players are seen all the time,Live shows with great singers with good bands can be found in Nashville.

I have even had the oppertunity to hear you play on a couple of occasions. Count yourself among the "Steel players".

Yea, Bob, There's Steel here in Nashville,It's just not being produced/used by the record Companys.

A good bit of interpretation of topics on this forum is lost in the lack of being able to look and listen to the postee in person. My take on what Kenny said is : the sparklers, skimpy dress code, and noise that some of today's stars make, takes the place of, or , covers up a great steel player's / sidemen / women's talent. The artists are the headlines and the smoke bombs, Harley's, bustin guitars, waterfalls, belly buttons, etc., is emphasized more than the talents of the sidemen /sidewomen, who accompany the aforementioned star. However, the aforementioned "star" would look kinda ridiculous in all the smoke and sparks if it weren't for the talented group of musicians, namely the steel guitarists, that accompany him / her, within that cloud of smoke. On the other hand, the people come to see the "star" and he / she brings in the da buck$.
Ok, Bob, nobody slammed ya, we all agree Nashburg is full of great steel players, we who live outside of there want, nay, crave more steel on stage and louder and upfront, do i hear an amen? Ain't nobody gonna question my pal Kenny's integrity without an exortation of some sort. And by the way Bob, the Boss TU 12 H tuner i bought from ya still works fine, great deal. There have been countless posts about no steel at clubs in Nashville and all Bob did was point out the fact that it is there if you look for it, nothing more!

Thanks for reporting the lack of steel at the Palace, that's just one place steel lovers won't have to go to!

I think the bulk of the question was raised my the "How are things in Nash/Brans" post.

Just looking for a round number estimation of how many 5-7 night clubs there are there as opposed to say 10-15 years ago.

Here in Portland OR there used to be twenty or more 7 niters rolling. Now there's about ONE.

If I was thinking of moving there ( which I'm not), I'd be asking how much heavy road construction was going on....
