I own an old album entitled,"A Steel Guitar Christmas". It is approximately 1974 vintage and was on "Power Pak" records. On the recording is: a Dobro, a pedal steel,and a Non-pedal steel. The non-pedal steel player
is undoubtedly Little Roy Wiggens,yet the only album credit says,"Artist-Jim Baker".
I know that Little Roy did an album on this label,which he entitled "Memory Time". Therefore it is entirely possible that he played on this with Jim baker. It is a good album. I was just wondering if anyone out there could shed a little light on this??
No offense intended,but I don't even know who Jim Baker is or was.

JIM, Bobbe Seymore confirmed that the primary artist on the album was,indeed Jim Baker. However,I am still left to wonder if Little Roy did a guest appearance also??!!
I suppose that Jim Baker could be proficient at playing Little Roy's style. This album does not equal Buddy "E"'s christmas album,but you will certainly be getting your money's worth and more. It is very commercial,especially for the time period in which it was cut. |

Jim Baker did a lot of demo sessions here,in the NashVILE area. Jim used to work the "Long Hollow Jamboree" in Hendersonville,Tn. He would call me to "sub" for him,from time to time. Jim's still around,but I don't know what he's doin' these days. BTW, Jim's a very proficient,commercial steeler.

The album just arrived and I'm listening as I type. No credits on this one either, other than Jim Baker's name. It's very nice and I definitely did get my money's worth.  |
