After all these years of listing to and enjoying Sonny's playing--I finally got to meet him and hear him play. Not only is he a great picker but a heck of a nice man.Sonny was in the studio laying down tracs for our group's new recording. We in our group'like most group's today, chose to go with studio musicians because they are so creative.I am looking foward to setting down and trying to do some of the things that Sonny did on these tracs.Sonny can play that Dobro too!

My good friend and great country gospel singer, Terry Terrell, just recorded this song, produced by Zane King, with Sonny Garrish on steel. http://terryterrell.com/real/lily.ram
[This message was edited by Reggie Duncan on 16 October 2002 at 04:40 PM.]

[This message was edited by Reggie Duncan on 16 October 2002 at 04:41 PM.]

Yes...
Sonny Garrish is one great player... very innovative. Remember Ronny McDowell's "Wondering Eyes" and Sonny's ride ?? Great stuff.

And he's one great person. A genuinely decent human being.

Jerry, I had the opportunity to work with
Sonny also in spring, I friend of mine and
myself went to Nashville to give some songs
of his a fighting chance for Radio play,
Sonny did a great job of session leader, getting the right players for what we needed
and just being a real pro, I can't say enough
about the session, it turned out great, because the people were great, I have heard
horror stories and some pretty bad recordings
from Nashville, it can be a nightmare if the
wrong people get their claws in you,
I can't say enough about the man, except he
is one of my hero's , he is so efficient in the studio, reads the song to get a vibe and
direction, I've mentioned it before but the
steel part on Tim Mcgraw's "just to see you smile" is PERFECT , Dann Huff's guitar part
is right there also, perfect display of
what the song needed and then delivering,
A great musician and a first class guy all
the way, Greg
