Did you finally get those new picks you been wantin' to try out?? Or maybe that new ????

I put my order in for one of Bob Dell's "New Generation" cases. I needed a new case for my Sho~Bud LDG and I chose this one because it is made out of polypropylene, which is very light, yet strong. It will weigh about 24 pounds with wheels. I know from past experience that Bob Dell builds great stuff. He is a great guy too!

Nothing for me. I figured until I get playing the thing regularly that more gear is about as useful as "paving the cow path".

I'll admit I did have my eye on the Hilton volume pedal... Even had approval from my CFO to buy one.

Well let's see.....Great memories, a couple of video tapes (Buddy/Hal, Lloyd/Tommy), some course stuff from Jeff, some string sets, some picks,...........Oh, and something to put under those picks...a new Zum was ordered.
My wife didn't even toss me out when I got home and showed her the goodies.

I had to pick up a couple sets of the "diamond ring" picks from Jeff Newman, but the surprise for me was the new 15/16" diameter BJS bar from Bill Stroud.

I liked it so much that I used it on my set Sunday. I had tried a 1" several years back, but used a 7/8" for many years. As I should have expected, the 15/16" was a great compromise between tone and weight. (I even heard that John Hughey has been using one.)

If you haven't tried one - give it a whirl.

I bought one of those 15/16 BJS bars last year. They were hot off the press. It's my favorite bar.

This year I bought the new CDs from TW and JH, JayDee's Video, a Jim Cohen Tab, and a Doug J "C6 Beginners Video/Book".

and Jeff's seminar.

I loaded up on CD's, SIT Strings, and Thumb picks. The heavy plastic picks I'[ve been using have been giving me a fit. I saw one of the young players in one of the band rooms using a light, Orange colored pick with a picking surfact about 1/8" wide. bot
one at Scotty's and it looks like I'm really going to like it. It doesn't seem to be as grabby to me as the heavy ones.

Well I bought one of those "Leg" clips with nothin' on it, I guess I was thinking I would redesign the wheel here. Also a length of George L cable and a bunch of George L connectors. Then I went searching for National metal picks only to discover that mine were Dunlaps ! So to even out the Tom Foolery I bought a few of each. Lets see, oh yea, I bought some nylon rod tuners , don't ask me why, they were there, I was there, it was a moment. Two video's, Tommy and Lloyd and Buddy and Hal, A Buddy CD and a Tommy CD, some bad Hot Dogs at that bad buffet, a few beers at the "Music Hall" bar where I was plesently suprised that they weren't $10 each like everything else at that hotel, I did also have breakfast at the restaurant Sat morning before the line which went all the way back to the airport formed. Other than that , I didn't do to bad..The video's are really great..Oh yea, my wife took a cab from the airport to the Hotel...$35 ..We went back by the Metro Link, $1.25..Now there is a pretty fair contrast !

I didn't bring it home, save for the receipt, but, I did order a brand new single 12 Zumsteel. And, I can't wait to get it.

How much do the 15/16" bars cost. My 7/8 is easy to handle but the 1" sounds sooo much better. Looks like it's time to try that 15/16.

I picked up a 15/16 BJS bar with my birthstone. I love it; feels just right in size and weight. It was $65.00 w/birthstone, or $60.00 without. I have been using their 7/8 bar.

I also picked up split-wrap ProPik #3’s, they are very comfortable, fit like a glove, and appear to give a nice tone and attack.

Ron---- Be forewarned about that Hilton Pedal--- although it handles beautifully and sounds even better--you'll have to keep a club behind your seat to beat the women off with. At least it's that way with Roller and I. -

My wife purchased the Roy Rosetta CD because she loved his vocal performance on the main stage.

Playing it, on the way home, we discovered it's all instrumental! Excellent playing, probably it's best that he doesn't sing on it. I don't want her to run away to Texas.

Bill I had a dream like that once but then I woke up and................! Actually that club might come closer to being needed to keep the bad guys from trying to take the Hilton away from us. ;(

Bill, have you noticed it happening on dark nights, or just on nights the moon is out and you are playing slowly on the E9th?

Williams Royal Precision?

Notice how the string hooks on this Williams guitar. Bill was showing me this in St.Louis. Bill has a patent on the way this is made and the way the strings hook. Clever idea in my opinion. Looks to me like this would prevent a lot of string beakage. The old Fender guitars did not break strings a lot. The string does not wrap around a sharp diameter, but is hooked, and strung with less of a bend.
