Hi :

I took several hundred photos at the "Pioneers of Western Swing" (POWS 2002)annual meeting of the Seattle Western Swing Music Society (SWSMS), held at the Eagles Lodge in Everett, WA on the weekend of August 11th.

I put the photos of the steelers (in alphabetical order: Vic Ashmean, Wayne Franco, Al Gershen (yours truly), Bobby Gilstrap, Obil Noonkester, Dean Rankin and Jim Webb) in an album titled, "Steelers at Everett POWS, Aug 10" on my website at the URL:

http://groups.msn.com/AlsPhotographs/steelersateverettpowsaug10.msnw

Please visit this album and look thru the photos. Also, if you know any of these steelers, please contact them and advise them about this photo album. Thank you!

The western swing music at SWSMS's POWS 2002 was outstanding as was the steel playing. If you are in the Seattle area next August, don't pass this event up.

Al do you have any photos of Mike Gross? Mike was the M.C. at the event and I believe he was inducted into the POWS Hall of Fame? Mike is our M.C. at our annual PSGA shows in Connecticut and a devoted steel guitar fan, even tho he doesn't play it.

Hi Bob Maickel:

You're correct, Mike Gross was inducted into the 2002 Pioneers of Western Swing (POWS).

In the August Newsletter of the Seattle Western Swing Music Society (SWSMS), it says:

Mike Gross -- D.J., Fairfield, CT. -- Having received numerous awards he is the producer and host of "Swinging West," dedicated solely to Western Swing Music.

I don't know if I took any photos of Mike Gross but I am in the early process of putting my 200 photos on two new MSN Groups that Bill Bailey, Editor of the SWSMS Newsletter created for me.

They are called:

Western Swing:

http://groups.msn.com/WesternSwing

and

Seattle Western Swing:

http://groups.msn.com/SeattleWesternSwing/

I haven't started the uploading yet to these websites but I hope to begin soon and complete the task by this weekend or early next week.

So please check these two websites, under the "Pictures" link for the Albums and soon you will be able to see all my photos from that great Everett, Washington, event.

Regards,
Al Gershen
