Need help with how to properly wire the "pots" for tone and volume (orig. ones were rusted out). All I know forsure is there are three terminals on each pot, two terminals on the plug receptacle and two lead wires from the pickup. I think it's a G70 or Amerloha model that came with 2 500k pots with a capacitor between them. I read some where that 1 500k would do for the volume and 1 250k for the tone?? Any info. appreciated.

I am facing a similar problem. I just came across a Magnatone with no pots or plug - just two cloth covered wires sticking out from the pickup cavity. One wire has a thin unshielded wire wrapped around it. I am not sure which wire is positive and which is negative. There is also a thin ground wire coming from the bridge. Can you tell from your guitar where the wire with the little wire wrapped around it goes?

All ground points should go to the common grounding on the back of the volume pot.

If I'm deciphering the schematic that Denny sent correctly, that bare wire wrapped around the coil wire combines with the bare wire from the bridge (pickguard)and they both solder to the back of the volume pot
as does the "cold" wire it's wrapped around. The other coil wire is the "hot" one to the volume pot. (whew).
I didn't find a bare wraparound wire on mine and generated noise instead of sound when tested so ended up removing the pickup (oboy)!..the plot thickens

What about the ground wire that is under the pickup cover, it comes out of the MOT and is pressed between the body and the edge of the pickup cover/hand rest?

Robert, the total length of the fretboard does not help me. Would you mind to give me the exact distance from the MIDDLE of the FIRST fret (not Zero fret) to the MIDDLE of the 23RD fret.(Not 24)
I can then check this against the printed fretboard and then I can send it to you.

On mine, that little bad boy runs right into the pots hole and according to the earlier mentioned schematic, solders to the back of the volume pot..as near as I can determine.

OK- It is 16 1/4 inches from the middle of the first fret to the middle of the 23rd fret. Hope this clarifies it for you. Also, I just sent you an email with a few minor tweaks on the configuration.

There are days and there are days! The correct measurement between 1 and 23 is 15 1/4". I did not originally allow for the 1" offset I used to be sure I was accurate (of all things).
My apologies. I know how perplexing things can get when one is trying to work with inaccurate info.

I might add that installing an EXTRA bare wire between the bridge and the handrest is GOOD. That way you can lift either hand from the guitar while the other hand provides the radio-phonic "earth" that quietens the pickup hum.
