Hello,
He played steel for Gordon Lightfoot, didn't he? I noticed a few weeks ago Lucky Oceans had a thread on here, and he happens to live in the land of Oz as well. Maybe you could send him or Winnie (in NZ) a mail from that thread. I bet those fellers can track him down.

O.K. Eddie...I called Pee Wee but he was out chasing a little white ball around the golf course.......I have sent his E-address in E-mail.
Pee Wee has been in Aus for about 30 years and just about every steel player here has been influenced by him....he played for a long time on a weekly TV show...country music one, has a few records out including a country jazz one with Buddy Emmons, and one with one of the best guitarists around...one who used to jam and record with Chet Atkins.........Tommy Emmanuel
Hope this helps.....you know how to get me

It was Pee Wee Charles from Ontario Canada, who played with Lightfoot. He is a good player and great guy. |

For those of you who don't know Eddie that well, let me brag on him a little because he never would himself. We go back almost thirty years so I know something about him.
When I was young, my ego made me think I was the better player. Then I grew up and realized the truth ! Anyone with ears would hear the difference but he is still my BEST FRIEND !! We know what the other guy is talking about when we discuss steel guitars and the players. And just as I respect his musical talents, I respect him as the fine person he is.
He grew up with the likes of Pee Wee and all the other good musicians who evolved out of the Macon, Georgia musical legacy. He also plays an impressive lead Guitar and can cover the bass any day of the week.
I got goose bumps when he told me about playing at a Memorial Day show somewhere in Florida, I think. He played America The Beautiful and instead of applauding, the crowd all stood up and paid their respects to the song and the player. That doesn't happen too often to any of us.
And I felt the tension he must have felt when he was on stage with John Hughey. Those of you who have done that, know what I'm refferring to.
I have five brothers in my family but he is the only true blue musical brother I will ever have. If you have such a friend, treat him right. They do not happen in our lives that often
