Cass, you bought a big smile to my face.In fact I'm still laughing.Anyway that was a great post you did for Tommy. Having spoken to him personally I know he appreciated you for spreading the news. For those of you who don't know ,Mike Cass is one of the best steel players in this town and without a doubt an expert on steel guitar building and steel guitar history. It's about time Tommy did a cd. I think he was seventteen when he did the last one. I actually met him in 76 and all he said was""the Big E changed his first string from a g to a d, check it out, it will change your life".

Cass is one of the most under rated pickers around. He appeared with Darrell McCall at the Memorial Day Tulsa show, blew EVERYONE away. Tone to the bone, perfect Emmons style licks, flawless execution. Turn your head and you would almost swear it was the Big E. Mike had the most incredible tone coming from his EMCI and those Standel Amps. Practically left everyone speechless. This man has a wealth of knowledge on Emmons licks.

I agree with John...Mike is one of the most underated players. I first met Mike way back in the late 70's/80's when we'd hang at Pedal Steel Guitar Emporium in MPLS, MN. Those were some good old days. How can one guy plays soooo hot and have the skills to make the old P/P's play like butter?! Have a great day Mike.

Great Player, Great Rebuilder! I actually got to carry his gear to a gig for him when he recently hurt his foot!! (hope your foot is better Mike)I got to hear to 3 sets of killer playing!! If I did not have a very pregnant wife with me I would have stayed for the whole show!! Great Chops and incredible tone! This was no ordinary pick-up gig, they threw the kitchen sink at him and he smoked on everything! Way to go Mike!!!
ps: he works on all my stuff too!

I was most impressed when Mike brought his guitar into the Bell Cove for a player to use when his(the player's) broke down.....seriously nice thing to do. I don't even think he charged him more than minimum......or time and 1/2. Just kidding, I was the only one who charged him for trying to fix his p/p electronics.....or at least I gave him an invoice....still ain't paid......'course, I didn't actually fix it....it's hard to solder with a match 'cause John Hughey was breathin' so hard, I couldn't keep one lit.
