Had the pleasure of working a job with John this weekend, and really enjoyed his tasty playing on that black P/P of his. FWIW, John just completed an instrumental CD he calls "Country Standard Steel", and it's definitely worth a listen!
As an aside, I read on another thread where some guys carry their steels to a job set up and tied down, others in the trunk of the car with the back legs off, etc. The weekend job with John was only 2 blocks from his house, so I think he just carried his steel all set up under his arm right down the sidewalk. |

It was even a shorter walk than that. I was playing on the other side of the club so it was just a short trot to the east side. Love this gig!
PS. Thanks for the nice words, Don. I hope the bonus was sufficient. |

I totally agree, John is a real fine picker. His new CD demonstrates quite well that when you match great hands with a great axe, you get a great performance.
Hey John,
When I first heard your contribution to Northern Steel, the engineer and I played the track over and over. We loved every note. Salut mon ami! Bob |
