......Well, I did! From the 4th to the 7th he was our house guest and I have never spent a more enjoyable time than those 4 days. He jammed with Hal Rugg at Jack Heern's BBQ on the 4th and sat in with my son's band the 5th & 6th. If you haven't ever heard Smiley play, make sure you go to St. Louis because he can play with the "Big Boys". Besides having more musical talent than he needs, (he could give me some of it!) he is a bottomless pit when it comes time to eat but I think Karen filled him up as he never complained about being hungry. It was the best 4th of July we ever had but where does he get those bathing suits?

My daddy told me to beware of men who grew hair on their face and shaved their chest.
By the way Mike, were you able to sell him the delux burial plan,or did he opt for the pine box special.
If you fed him three days, there had to be a reason. |

I was going to offer Smiley a place to stay if he ever came through Oklahoma. I'm not so sure about it now...
Mike - Do you have a pool, or is that what he usually wears? |

Hey!Hey!Hey!..whats all this rubbishing Smiley?.....That suit is for real..it is the one that he used to wear when he was a High Wire performer in Barnum and Bailey's Circus!
He was real good at it to untill the day he did a two and a half triple twist back flip and missed the wire..which would have been OK except his legs went each side of the wire!
After that...in the same outfit he applied to be the Lion tamer...he was second in the queue at the audition...the first one was a gorgeous you blond girl..when she stepped into the ring the lion just lay down and licked her toes and her knees.....
The Ringmaster asked Smiley...could he do that......"Sure...just get rid of that lousy Lion!!" |

i think my kids would just love him and want to take him to the local pool.
BUT: considering how good the food + wine can be here, it could be hazardous if Smile's appetite is a bottomless pit.
what's that tune: "now if you give me some supper and a place where i can sleep, i'll play ya' some songs that'll knock your hat in the creek !"
i think i better ask my wife first...

Smiley, Will you be in Minnesota next week with Tommy Overstreet again? It's been pretty hot up here the past week or so, so you may want to pack that swim suit. We won't stop you from wearing it during the show. It gets a little warm on that stage. |

First of all,let me say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to Karen & Mike Weirauch,(& family) for puttin' up w/ my nonsense & foolishness for FOUR days. They certainly know how to treat a house guest. This had to be one of the BEST 4th of July's I can recall in many a year! ('course,at my age,it's hard to recall TOO many of 'em.) And that Mike....WHATTA COOK!! He got a hold of some "T-bones" that had to be 2" thick,& seasoned 'em w/ his own special brand of seasoning,& also prepared some humongous shrimp,THREE different ways.
Now,if that wasn't enough, the next day,he made some 'burgers that would make a "Whopper" look like a "Krystal". Then,he found some corn on the cob that,I swear, was cooked in sugar,it was so sweet! THEN,as if that wasn't enough,he topped it off w/ some HOMEMADE,(that's right,I said HOMEMADE) vanilla ice cream, made by MIKE! It brought me back to my 1st childhood. (I specify "1st",because I'm now in my 2nd.) All in all,it was one of the best 4th's I can recall. THANKS! (can't wait 'til next year,Mike!)
