June 18th,1966,to be exact,in 3 sessions. (10 am-2-& 6 pm). Lloyd said that this was his LEAST favorite of his albums and,in fact, had the producer LOCK the door to the studio,so no one could get in,while they were recording it. Lloyd also said that his wife found a copy of the album at a K Mart record dept.,& bought it for him,for 39¢. He,still, has the the album, intact in shrink wrap, unopened,in his collection.

Yeah, Donny, I assumed as much, but wanted to get an idea of when in that era it might have been made.

Thanks, Smiley, for the details!! Recorded in a day... they sure don't make 'em like that anymore Image

I also have this album, but I have to agree with Lloyd: it's not my favorite. Image

I guess we should mention (for those who are not aware) that this was a compilation of old patriotic instrumentals (Anchors Aweigh, Caissons Go Rolling Along, Yankee Doodle, etc.) done in the sound and style that made Lloyd famous. There was a big escalation in the war in '66, and this spawned many new patriotic songs as well.

I play this one every July 4th-no its not the best album by Lloyd-but it is patriotic still in these troubled times
