There have been a lot of newcomers to the forum in the last four or five months, and if any of them are considering learning the C6th tuning, here is a link they should visit to hear what they should strive for. WARNING!
This may be hazardous to your mental health!

Being a Curly Chalker devotee, the C6 is my tuning of choice and spend many hours a day honing my art.

This site crashes my Machine in the 3rd bar of the C6 Medley! Anyone else have that problem?

Several years ago I heard a fellow play with Freddie Hart and he was featured playing Stompin At The Savoy. I didn't get around to meet him or get his name but the banjo player did. I think he was taking some lessons from Jernigan at the time.

Same guy?

JD is a very good C6th player, I have been trying to copy him, for the last six months, also the singing is pretty darn good, some of the singing is his wife.He sure got my attention. Any one who likes C6th should go to his web site an give a listen. Jerry

When I first saw a thread linking to this site a while back, I downloaded all the tunes including the tunes from the "Heartbeats" (Freddie Hart's) band featuring JD Walters.

I agree, he is a fantastic steel guitar player. His C6 tone and expression is to die for. I do not know how he can get such beautiful stuff out of C6. But he sure does!

One question for you computer buffs. How come I can burn to disk some of the tunes, but it won't let me on other ones in this download? I have 3 different software packages that I can burn with. And the same thing happens on all of them. I end up with only 4 tunes that I can make an audio disk from. Why?

God bless JD and all of you,

carl

Hey Bill C. Are you playing them from the website, or are you downloading to a folder before playing them?

This goes out to Bill Cunningham;
If the song is crashing half way through, right click on the link,
Then click "save as"
after saving the whole file then play it.

I agree that JD is one of the best I've ever heard on C-6th.I sent JD an E-mail and told him I thought he was as good as I had ever heard. The songs were great, the arrangements
were great and the singing wasn't bad either!
He sent me a nice reply and said he played with Freddie Hart and Billie Jo spears in the 70's.He has a day job now and plays a little on week-ends.He also does a few things with Hank Thompson. If you haven't heard these songs, you are missing out on some of the best playing and arangements you will ever hear. And he did it at home.
