The camera never showed the name. But in Kenny's lastest video, it's a Zum! Image

Kenny Chesneys steeler is Jim Bob Garrett, from Billings, Montana.
He played with his family band, The Garrett Brothers, for years.
He is an excellent steel player and most of time that I knew him in the 80's he was playing home-made steels, built by him and a local steel builder.
This was the first time I've seen him playing a D10 (he always had a single neck with some weird copedant that only he could play!).
I couldn't tell what brand it was either (on the Opry last night).
[This message was edited by Pete Burak on 29 April 2002 at 09:58 AM.]

I watched the Opry last night and saw Jim Bob Garrett's Zumsteel. I always look for Jim Bob's Zumsteel whenever Kenny plays the Opry. I didn't know Tommy White played a Carter. I saw his yellow Sho-Bud on the Opry last weekend. Jim Bob was also on Kenny's live concert on CMT. Brett Day, Emmons S-10

Great. I can't wait to hear Tommy on it. I'm glad Carter will be in the lime light.
I just hope as their popularity increases that their prices stay as great as they currently are.

Hey Pete,
Did Jim Bob ever work for Sammy Kershaw? Our band opened for him about 5 or 6 years ago and he had a steel player who was from that part of the country playing a single 12 which was made by someone where he lived and featured a different tuning.

I am also glad that Tommy will be playing his new Carter on the Opry--it sure will make my Carter sound better when I play it Image. Joe

Jerry,
Yes, Jim Bob played with Sammy Kershaw.
I think it was his first gig when he left Montana.
I couldn't remember if it was an S10 or S12.
Thanks for reminding me!

This is the third week in a row of the televised Opry that we haven't been able to see Tommy play. Image Two weeks ago he had his blonde Sho-Bud on stage, and last week his new Carter. I'd just be happy to see him play any guitar!
