I wish to accumulate a list of pedal steel teachers who teach online, (either by mail or by skype). Please advise me of everyone you know who provides this service. I've only located one such teacher so far. Obviously there are surely many more.
If you wish to prefer to contact me directly, rather than here on the Forum, do so at tommybradshaw@gmail.com. ...Tom |

It's hard to beat what you get with William Litaker. You get video and audio and the tab, downloaded it and store it on your computer and watch it whenever you want to.
All for $5 a lesson. He does not charge for the comedy. That's free.
Be sure and back up your computer. Don't be a dummy like me, and let your computer crash and lose everything you have collected for several years. |

Posted 31 Aug 2016 7:00 am Hi Tom - Re. Tuition...
|
|
Here follows details of the tuition offered.
I have an online teaching plan which has worked successfully with students on a one to one basis and in large seminar groups too. I always go back to the basics for a few minutes to start with during the first lesson, ie: single and multi note scales and slides, fret movements within chords etc. It soon becomes very clear how my own thinking patterns are working during my playing, I then move swiftly on to what I think will help you the most. You will be playing along with backing music from the first lesson. The audio of the whole hour is recorded by myself and forwarded to you within 24 hours along with the tabs, tracks, homework and pictures etc. You will be very surprised how music theory is not necessary to learn for getting sweet music from your pedal steel guitar. My whole approach to the tuition offered is how I personally have learned to play the pedal steel myself, and how I continue to improvise around melodies, even now. By knowing simple single string picking, (using the correct fingers on the strings), and multiple string picking, (with easy fret movements, slides, blocks) and with simple pedal and knee lever operations, you will soon be getting melodies from your instrument. All lessons are 1 hour with a 15 minute break after the first 1/2 hour.
For the online lesson, you will need your PC, iPad, or iMac computer on, facing you at a level where I can see your hands and neck of the guitar. Try sitting it at kitchen worktop height facing you straight on, and not too close. I must be able to see the whole fretboard length and yourself in the picture that I see. The device you use is best not moved during the lesson which can cause blurring and dropouts. You will need to be plugged into an amp at low volume with any effects that you use turned on, and with the sound of your steel set at a tone that you personally like. Tuition will be given on sound and amp settings also. It is good to have a picture of your amp settings, volume pedal, and effect pedals sent to me by email before our lesson. I need to know in advance if there is anything you wish to specifically learn, for instance, a lick, intro, or lead break to any song and I would prefer this to be sent to myself by email prior to the lesson. I need to know also whether you are going to be using FaceTime or Skype? I would like your Skype username and/or your FaceTime email address for Apple devices. I will make contact 15 minutes before the lesson to check connections.
Payment is by PayPal in advance of the lesson please.
I will send more info to anybody interested in the tuition by email.
In the event of dropouts or connection problems during the first 15 minutes
that are causing to much interference with the lesson, I will refund the payment.
Any connection issues after the first 15 minutes have elapsed will try and be resolved with re-connections and a continuation of the lesson up to the period of 1 hour with no refunded payment. There has been no connection issues with any of the online lessons given so far and have been 100% successful.
You will find the tuition very productive and a lot of fun and also given at the correct pace for you. I would like any feedback from yourself to be to made to me personally, as I am aiming to make each lesson as perfect as I can, so constructive criticism is always welcome.
Please note that pictures, tablature files and recordings of your one-to-one lesson are NOT to be shared by email, or made public on any social media sites, steel guitar forums and groups. Although you will get the audio of the lesson sent to you by myself, you are still welcome to capture the video of the lesson on another device, but this must be for your own personal use only.
