Don't really know where to post this, but I'll try here. My mid 70's Pro-II was stolen from my home recently. Appreciate any info anyone might have to locate. It should be somewhere around Austin I would think.
It's a mahogany finish with 8+6. Lawrence 710 in top neck. Serial #5334. Badly cracked finish.

Just out of curiosity, when your steel was taken was it packed up in the case or set up?
I've always wondered about this. If someone came into my apartment and saw the steel, would they try to take it completely set up?
I could see it being taken if it was packed up - easier to carry. But you would have to know something about the thing to disassemble it and pack it in the case. |

| Marty I understand....I still have nightmares about finding only a pedal-board laying on the bandstand where I had left a brand new D-10 and Standel amp the night before! I suppose in the dark they missed getting the pedal board in the case! www.genejones.com |

Marty, that's terrible. They should put the summbitch to death. I hope he dislocated his shoulder trying to get the thing out the door. I had a great time talking to you at Billy Bob's last year. Best of luck finding the steel.

Marty,
Try the next Austin, City Wide Garage Sale. I had 2 guitars stolen from my Church near Westgate and Highway 71, a year ago and they both were sold at that sale. I would not have known what happened to them, but I happened to see one of them for sale on Ebay. I called the police and through the Ebay seller, they found out that the person who stole them, sold them to a dealer that sells regularly at the garage sale. He sold them to separate buyers, one of them listed his on Ebay the other buyer was going to try to resell his at the next garage sale. I got them both back.

| Marty, Sorry to hear of your loss. I always feared that happened to me so I always took mine with me even if I was going to play the same place the next night. Does anyone remember a record that came out in the late 60's called "Someone stole my Sho-Bud Guitar"? I'm not trying to downplay that your prize axe was stolen cause I know how I would feel if my Super Pro was stolen. I just happen to remember that recording and was wondering if anyone else remembered it. |

Thanks for the words of advice and encouragment! Miraculously, two days after reporting it stolen, the police found it in a pawn shop and are bringing it back to me next week.
I bought the guitar when I was in high school. Looks like we're destined to spend the rest of our lives together!

Glad to hear that you're getting the ~Bud back.
Next time you have a beer with Speedy, ask him to tell you the story of my night of detective work in Houstan back in '76 and the subsequent recovery of the Sir Douglas gear from the slum surrounding the Holiday Inn.

Got my Bud back today. I still can't believe someone would walk off with an 80 lb. case.
They've nabbed the culprits, who were hitting houses all over west Austin.
Anyway...yea,Glenn,that's my only Sho-Bud.
Harry- I haven't seen Speedy in quite some time. That sounds like a plenty scary story.
