Emil "Bash" Hofner, the well-known steel guitarist from San Antonio, died today (Wed).
Bash will always be remembered for playing steel in his older brother Adolph's bands from 1939 to the early '90s. He was also one of the earliest electric guitarists to record, playing steel on Jimmie Revard's first Bluebird session in October 1936. He was a great guy and will be missed by those who knew him.

I believe only Walter Kleypas, who played piano in the 1941-42 era, and Junior Mitchan, who played bass in the early 60s, survive Adolph Hofner's Pearl Wranglers today.
