Bill Anderson Interviews Legends of Steel Guitar

I know people must think I'm selling satellite radio but believe me I'm not. I just have a receiver in my truck and I keep it tuned to real country. On the "America" channel (60s, 70s, and 80s country) Bill Anderson does a weekly interview with legends of country music. This week he featured our very own Lloyd Green, John Hughey and Weldon Myrick. A whole half hour discussion with these super-stars of steel guitar. Lloyd talked about recording sessions in the 60s where he and Pete Drake were so busy they had to turn down more work than they could play. Weldon told how Hal Rugg helped him land his first job on the Opry which turned into a 30+ year gig for him and about running the Nashville office for Emmons Guitar Co. John had some old telephone answering machine tapes that he had saved. One was a call from Vince Gill offering John a job in his band that he was putting together. Another was a call from Lloyd which he made to John just after he had heard "Look At Us" for the first time. You can imagine what that message said. All this and more. I love my XM Radio.
