I know George and worked with him a few times. He was always playing a tele when I worked with him, and mighty good at it.
I haven't seen him in years.

I bought an MCI from George a few months back after a chance meeting in Casa Grande. I hadn't seen him in years.
A few weeks ago he drove down to Tucson and jammed on guitar with me on steel in a club . Fun evening!
There's going to be a steel guitar get-together in Globe on the 20th. George is slated to be there. If I see him I'll tell him you were asking for him. He's still quite active as a player and don't forget he plays fiddle too!

George has been playing Tuesdays & Sundays at the Stardust in Phoenix for the last year or so. Our band plays there Wednesday-Saturday. On our nights off I sit in with George and get back to my roots. This is where George shines (being an ex-Haggard band member). The lead singer in his band sings 75% Hag tunes and sounds pretty close to Merle.
