What ever happened to this guy. I remember this guy playing the heck out the psg and then seemed to disappear off the face of the earth. Passed away? retired? session work?

Monster player!! My favorite ride is his solo on "I'll fix you flat tire Merle".

Last time I heard he was working in Cincinatti or somewhere in Ohio at a music store but I'm not real sure. He was a very melodic player.

Yeah, I was searching pretty hard for the guy, but no luck. "Out On The Street" was one of my favorites. There's really nothing on the guy anywhere.

If I seen this thread here once, I've seen it a dozen times. Of all the steel players past and present, this guy has to be the most enigmatic. How popular was PPL - huge right?
Cripes, if someone can tell you the name of the brother-in-law of the third steel player in the most obscure western swing band in an unknown honky-tonk in 1943 (and someone on this forum - usually Herb - can and does tell you), how is it possible that nobody knows what became of John David Call?
Will someone please solve this mystery?

That guy didn't have a brother-in-law... his wife was an only child, and his sister was a spinster who never married. Good picker, though.
