My favourite CD this year:
"In Spite Of Ourselves" by John Prine&friends.Closely followed by "The Return of Wayne Douglas" from Doug Saahm. There were other good ones but these two spent the most time in the player.
Regards Brendan.

I also have a favorite CD of the year that has spent a LOT of time in my CD player... unfortunately the year was 1965!
"Buck Owens and the Buckaroos Live @ Carnegie Hall"

I'm selecting my "Record of the Year" from choices of CD's I bought during the last 12 months. My selection only contains one new release. The rest are great recordings and reissues. BTW: I'm a glutton. I can't select just one. So here are several of the top choices in preferential order:
#1 Renegade Picker/No Place to Fall - Steve Young (dbl. album originally released in the late '70's)
#2 There is Always One More Time - Johnny Adams (The final album and a great one from the best singer ever to grace the "chitlin' circuit". Released in late 2000)
#3 Conciousness/Live - Pat Martino (dbl. album originally released in the early '70's)
#4 Sound of a Heartache - Johnny Bush (originally released in the '70's)
#5 Sunflower - Milt Jackson (originally released in the early '70's)
#6 Sultan of Slide - Uncle Josh Graves (released in late 2000)
#7 Green Snakes - Johnny Bush (new release) The first 3000 copies also contain an additional CD of an early demo session with Johnny on vocals, Willie Nelson on guitar and Tom Morrell on steel guitar. Rough recording quality but very rare music.
Keep on pickin'!
